Choosing the week leading up to Canada Day for their nationwide launch is no accident either. July 1st has a unique place in Canadian media history. On this day in 1927 the CBC broadcast its signal to the nation for the very first time. In 1958 Canada was united through the first cross country television broadcast and on July 1, 1966 Canadians saw their country on the tube in color from coast to coast.
