Preparation

In preparation for the trip, start by getting inspired with creative Pinterest boards that are packed with camping ideas like cool camping spots, supplies, and even delicious recipes. Roughly 80 homes have been destroyed by fires caused by “Frankenstorm” Sandy on the night of October 29. Dozens of flooded houses burned as firefighters struggled to get to the remote neighborhood: flooded roadways made travel nearly impossible.

Wading through chest-high water, firefighters were able to rescue several stranded residents. However, at least 80 and perhaps up to 100 homes have been destroyed. You can see video footage of the Breezy Point fire below.
